Syphon Filter Wiki

This is it.
Hargrove's daughter, Blake. D'you think she's still alive?
As long as Singularity thinks he needs her, she has a chance.

The Takedown of Red Section was the penultimate confrontation in Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror. Motivated by Addison Hargrove's demise during the botched Germany transaction, Gabe Logan, attempting to destroy Red Section and capture Project Dark Mirror, assaulted Aerospace Integrated Technologies - where Singularity had established his headquarters - with Lian Xing's help.

The IPCA was mostly successful in its endeavours, hunting down the remnants of the paramilitary group and killing their commander. Dark Mirror was also acquired and analysed, while Logan went to Hargrove's grave to reflect on their relationship a week following the incident. To his surprise, Addison was in fact alive and well, having prepared for and faked her death well in advance. A second shock came to Gabe when Hargrove's daughter, Blake, indirectly revealed that she was his child by mentioning her age. Despite being reunited, Logan was persuaded by Hargrove to let her leave in peace, and watched the duo drive away.

Background

Prelude

Teresa: We now have a breakdown of the entire Red Section operation. Singularity's real name is Grant Morrill.

Lian: Grant Morrill?  Who is he?

Teresa: An accountant, believe it or not, who worked for Interpol. He audited budgets for classified projects. Turns out he did more than audit them, he kept personal copies of everything he saw, lining up future targets. Five years ago he left Interpol and got funding. We have no idea how. He purchased Aeroscience Integrated Technologies in Helsinki and created Red Section. From scratch.

Lian: His own personal army. Lawrence has succeeded in reverse engineering Project Dark Mirror.

Mujari: Using the samples you collected in Peru I have identified toxicodendron cells, the genetic material they are using to synthesize the plant extract.

Gabe: But you still don't know what it is?

Teresa: No, but we will soon. The bad news is that if we can reverse engineer it, so can Singularity.

In a flashback sequence, Gabe recalls how Teresa explains the man called Singularity, real name Grant Morrill, and his founding of Red Section. An ex-Interpol accounting employee, he audited classified project budgets. However, he also had copies of the files he kept for himself, attempting to know future targets. Five years prior to the game, he terminated his employment and somehow received his own finances to buy a facility belonging to AIT in Finland on his own.

Mujari then explains about samples collected in Peru, which allowed him to identify genetic material the antagonists used to create a plant extract. However, Singularity could reverse engineer it, if the IPCA can do the same.

Infiltrating the base

Lian: I've got the facility blueprints completely mapped out. This series of vents houses all of their cabling, fiber, CAT5, electrical, everything. Get me inside, and I can tap into their whole network.

Gabe: Let's go.

The duo approach the Red Section base on foot, having arrived in a van. Lian has a copy of their blueprints, and Gabe sneakily orders them to hide when an armoured soldier approaches. When the man's guard is down, Logan approaches him from the rear and uses his knife to slash his neck. The two then proceed further into the complex.

Gabe helps Lian to access the rooftops so that she can shimmy to a control room, boosting her in the process.
